All members of the club were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the recent death of Peter Hanysz.
Pete was a member of the club for a number of years, holding the post of Press Secretary since 2009. He and Sue were also well known as our unofficial deputy catering managers, a role that brought many a smile to our members lips.
Pete’s interest in photography goes back many years and he has been successful in club competitions and various forums. His style was quite subtle and gently pleasing to the eye. A number of brides also have Pete to thank for providing excellent wedding photos of their special event.
Pete’s other great interest was music and many members might be unaware that in an earlier part of his life he played drums in a band known as The Hooker-Lees. Guitarist in the same band was Glen Hughes, later of Trapeze and Deep Purple.
By profession, Pete was a chef and enjoyed many forms of cooking. He worked at a number of establishments and also operated his own business for many years.
But for all of these attributes, Pete will be remembered for being a friendly, helpful, personable character, popular with all members; no-one ever had a bad thing to say about him. He was also a devoted family man, being married to Sue for many years. The two of them were quiet and unassuming but socially active within the club.
Our thoughts go out to Sue and family for their enormous loss. We, at the club will miss you, Pete for being a good friend to Cannock Photographic Society.
