PAGB awards John Cartlidge

Our Chairman, John Cartlidge , was recently awarded the prestigious APAGB award for “Meritorious Service” to photography. This is a greatly respected acknowledgement of the time and effort that he has invested over the last 30 years or so.

John joined Cannock PS in 1980 and became a committee member in 1982. Apart from a brief rest of about 5 years in the 1990’s he has served the club in a variety of roles since then, becoming Chairman in 2008, a position that he still holds.

John also served on the committee of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation and was Chairman for two years.

In 1987 he began judging at other clubs competitions, graduating to Annual/Open/BPE Exhibitions and PAGB events. In all he has judged over 400 events, culminating in the Tropical Image Salon in Florida.

John has also lectured on over 250 occasions, at 150 different clubs, improving the knowledge and skills of many photographers in the process. His enthusiasm for photography is inspiring and infectious and it is pleasing that the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain recognises the commitment with this award.

Well done, John Cartlidge EFIAP/p BPE4* APAGB.
