Carole Mathews recently spotted a photographic competition called the Hornbill Challenge 2012 which is sponsored by Hornbill Electrical Control Systems and hosted by Neath Photographic Society. As this was a competition with a monetary prize Carole decided to give it a go. There was a total prize pot of £350, with £200 being awarded to the overall winning image, with a further £50 being awarded to the best ‘Industrial Landscape’, ‘Natural History’ and ‘Monochrome’ image. David Byrne was awarded 2 medals and 11 acceptances in the Serbian international Salon. Gold PSA was awarded for ‘The Copse’ the first medal for this picture, ‘Riding his Luck’ was awarded a Salon Gold Medal. He was also awarded 2 HM’s for ‘The Sentinals’ and ‘Dunstanburgh Castle‘
Peter Clark has received a Honourable Mention for ’Walking the Wave, Arizona Wilderness’ in a very difficult salon in China, he also gained 3 acceptances.

FKNS – Grand Prix David Byrne gained an impressive 19 out of 24 acceptances in the Serbian Salon, winning two FIAP HM’s and two PSA HM’s.
David Byrne has won 3 Medals at The Indonesian Salon. The Gold FIAP was won with his image ‘Grit & Mud‘, Bronze PSA with ‘Wind Torn‘ and a Salon Silver Medal for ‘Riding his Luck‘. Carole Mathews brought the total acceptances for CPS to 9.
Peter has received his 3 Star PSA award this week, through gaining acceptances to PSA run salons, we know how much hard work it takes to gain these awards, CPS would like to congratulate him on his success.

We have now had the results from the 2012 Photofolio Challenge Trophy. Cannock put a mixed entry into the competition of Advanced and Intermediate workers to give as many people as possible the experience of having their work entered. In the Monochrome Print Section 27 clubs entered work and Cannock were placed 9th, 29 Clubs entered Colour Prints with Cannock being placed 6th and from 32 clubs entering PDI’s Cannock were placed 10th .
